My Favourite Album

Yesterday, I watched My Favourite Album on the ABC, which, for those living under a log the past few weeks, was a show where for four weeks, people could vote for their favourite album, and the top 10 got discussed on TV. Great concept :P Anyway, I thought I might offer some thoughts as to the the top 100, since I'm sure you want to hear them.

Albums that should have rated higher

Albums I expected would rank lower (but still appear on the list)

Albums that are quite obviously products of the Giggly Teenage/Pre-teen Girl Vote (i.e. Albums that really should not be as high on the list as they are, if at all)

I've ordered this list beginning from "Least Giggly" to "Most Giggly".

My Favourite Album

was OK Computer by Radiohead. I'll discuss why in a later post. Maybe.

Anyway, feel free to dump some comments. I'll be sure to respond to them. In the mean time, you may want to view the top 100 so you can comment for yourself.

For the record, I want it recorded (duh...) that my favourite album is Pink Floyd, Dark Side Of The Moon. As such, I am really quite happy.

My reasoning? It's just too good.

I, ON THE OTHER HAND, AM OUTRAGED!!!! Where was Neil Diamond, 'Hot August Night?' Michael Jackson 'Thriller'? They didn't even make it into the top 100, what the hell?! Admittedly I was too lazy and chose not to vote, but come on! Ah well, at least Myf regards Neil as a legend smiles with satisfaction

lol i am so glad that Grace by Jeff Buckley got number two, i was sad that Aretha Franklin wasn't up there in the top 10. i thought that it sad that there weren't any female vocalists in the top 10. pity cause i can think of some brilliant ones.

on another note, fuck i can't find my ipod, shit i think it fell out of my bag while i was walking into town. shit shit shit.

damm you people that votes for Anthony Callea and Delta Goodrem!!!!!!!

Hannah, I'll just point out that Hot August Night was in the top 20 (at number 16ish, IIRC).

Secondly, to Jess, the main reason why no female vocalists made the top 10 would be that very few good female vocalists make good albums -- as an example, the Live album by Aretha that got mentioned by Renee Geyer contains her singles...

Overall, I thought the top 10 was very evenly balanced, with very few complaints to be had by me.

And in that case, WHY, I ASK YOU, WAS IT ONLY AT NUMBER 16???? I really should have voted, multiple times....
